Wellness Care for a Better You
Every nerve in your body is connected to your spinal cord, and these nerves act as the communication highway between your brain and your body. Your spinal column consists of bones, called vertebrae, and strong ligaments that help your spine keep both its shape and stability. Vertebrae are soft discs that act as shock absorbers for small impacts on your spine, like walking and running, and larger impacts on your spine, such as an automobile accident or a football tackle. Your vertebrae sort of cushion the blow each time.

Why Choose Chiropractic Care?
Once you begin to understand how your body works, you’ll see that Chiropractic Care makes perfect sense to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many times, when we think we are sick, the health problem is your body’s reaction to either external or internal stimuli. Here’s how it works:
Your “First” Sign of Disease or Illness
It’s not necessarily just a cold or virus.
Have you ever called in sick to work or taken a child home from school due to nausea or a fever? We have learned to associate these symptoms with a cold or virus or some other ‘bug.’ However, current research shows us that many of the illnesses we suffer from are directly related to our habits and the decisions we make in our daily lives. These decisions may affect our bodies in ways that we don’t expect and produce problems that do not have what we consider to be apparent symptoms.
Your Body Reacts to Everything
It’s so important to listen to your body.
Your body reacts to both healthy and unhealthy choices every day. If you eat something that has not been cooked properly, then you will most likely become physically ill. Getting ill and vomiting is not something that we would choose to feel better, but it is the body’s way of helping us stay healthy. This response by the body to maintain its own health is proof that your body is functioning properly. Your body reacts in much the same way to other factors that are not healthy.
Your Control Center Controls You
Your nervous system is the control center for your body.
Every part of your body is connected by nerves that run straight to your spine and to your brain. Your nervous system controls everything that occurs in your body and what your body does throughout the day.
The staff at Liringis Chiropractic is dedicated to help protect the integrity of your nervous system, and to keep it operating properly so that the rest of you operates properly as well. By protecting your nervous system, you are able to have an uninterrupted nerve supply. Liringis Chiropractic in Greensboro and Winston-Salem can help you detect problems with your nervous system before they develop into chronic pain or a permanent problem.
What Is Chiropractic Care?
The Chiropractic Care Approach gets to the root cause of your individual health issues. Instead of just providing a prescription for medication that may cause other harmful or unwanted side effects, we find out what’s causing your pain and provide chiropractic care to treat that issue. Instead of recommending an invasive surgical procedure that may have a long recovery period, we look for more natural healing methods to help your feel better faster.
Therapeutic services provided by chiropractic doctors are both safe and highly effective for patient relief from chronic pain and other discomfort. Chiropractic is a health care profession that concentrates on the treatment of musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders, and the influences of these disorders on your general health.
Chiropractic physicians remedy these chronic pain and discomfort complaints that keep our patients from enjoying life:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Joint pain
- Auto accident injuries
- And much more!
Chiropractic care has demonstrated a proven ability to approach pain in a natural, non-invasive way. Chiropractic care relies on therapies that are both drug-free and surgery-free. Our patients are enjoying a natural form of treatment that takes their whole body into consideration, not just the part that’s causing pain.
Chiropractic care effectively treats a variety of pain conditions. With each year, more and more Americans are relying on chiropractic care as a way to remain healthy and prevent the occurrence of future illnesses.
How Does Chiropractic Care Work?
The most common therapeutic procedure that your chiropractic physician will perform is a spinal manipulation called an ‘adjustment.’
The purpose of this manual manipulation of your spine is to correct any subluxations (misalignments) and to restore your joint mobility. An adjustment consists of mild to moderate pressure to particular joints that have been restricted in their movement. A chiropractic adjustment will reduce or eliminate your chronic pain, alleviate muscle tightness, and allow your surrounding tissues to heal properly.
Most patients find that their chiropractic adjustment immediately relieves or reduces their physical distress or pain.
Adjustments rarely cause discomfort. However, some patients may experience some mild soreness or aching following treatment. This soreness usually dissipates or is gone within a few hours to a few days at the most.
What Kind of Education Is Required for Chiropractic Doctors?
The educational requirements for chiropractic physicians are among the most rigorous of all health care professions. In the United States, we have approximately 77,000 Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs). Each DC is required to pass a series of four national board exams and also be licensed in the state in which they practice. Both an MD and a DC (chiropractor) attend school for eight years. The first six years of medical school are alike for both professions. Then during the last two years the MD learns about drugs and medication, while the chiropractor receives in-depth training in reading x-rays (for more than just broken bones).
Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) must be educated in a nationally accredited, four-year doctoral graduate school program. This stringent educational curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 classroom, laboratory, and clinical internship hours. The average DC program is equivalent in classroom hours to many other medical schools.
What More Can I Get From Chiropractic Care?
The Chiropractic Care Approach focuses on you as a person and how your body operates. In addition to our drug-free, surgery-free, hands-on approach to your medical care, your chiropractic physician also has a broad range of diagnostic skills. Our extensive education enables us to recommend rehabilitative and therapeutic at-home exercises and stretches. PLUS we can provide dietary, nutritional, and other lifestyle counseling – all for a better you and a better life!
What If Chiropractic Care Won’t Help Me?
Sometimes chiropractic care can help with a health condition, but is only part of the solution. In that case, we will recommend co-management of your health condition in conjunction with another health care professional. In addition, your chiropractic physician will readily refer you to an appropriate health care provider if we find that chiropractic care is not suitable for your health issue.
