Your First Chiropractic Visit
We will treat the cause of your health issues, not your symptoms!
For your comfort and convenience, any physical examination will generally be performed over your clothing. We’ll also observe your posture in different positions and monitor your range of motion, as well as implement palpation of your muscles, joint movement, and soft tissues. If we feel that you can benefit from an MRI, we will refer you to a specialist.
Before your first chiropractic visit, be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your medical history
- Where your pain is located
- When your pain started
- What activities increase or decrease your pain
- Other symptoms and/or health issues
We may also perform the following chiropractic treatments as needed:
- Check vital signs
- Take x-rays
- Perform other diagnostic tests
What Is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
Your chiropractic physician will adapt each adjustment to meet your specific needs. You may hear a popping noise as gas and lubricating fluids within your joints are shifted. This is completely normal.
You’ll receive your chiropractic treatment on a special table designed to fit your body comfortably during your treatment. Each chiropractic adjustment is performed with specific pressure and targeted in a required direction. This pressure and motion result in a change in position of your spinal bones.
A chiropractic adjustment often immediately relieves pain and discomfort in the affected part of your body, and begins to alleviate joint inflammation. You may need several follow-up adjustments to reduce the inflammation, which will be significantly reduced with each visit.
Why Schedule Chiropractic Maintenance?
After initial chiropractic services are performed, many patients will continue periodic chiropractic adjustments, or maintenance, as part of a healthy lifestyle plan. Here are some reasons why you may find periodic chiropractic services helpful:
Continuing chiropractic treatment is part of a wellness program that promotes natural healing. Your body’s physical stress levels will decrease with the increased attention to proper spine and joint function. In addition, the muscles and soft tissues that support your spine can take longer to heal – even after your symptoms are gone. Regular chiropractic treatment can correct these three areas of stress by reducing or eliminating spinal subluxation:
- Physical Stress
- Chemical Stress
- Emotional Stress
Once your initial physical symptoms are corrected through chiropractic care, consistent – yet less frequent – chiropractic adjustments can maintain proper function and alignment of your spine and joints. In other words, we can prevent an injury from reoccurring. Your chiropractic doctor can also identify future issues that may occur and correct them before they become a problem.
Receiving regular chiropractic services can equate to receiving regular massage. You’ll leave your chiropractic visit feeling re-energized and ready to live life to the fullest. Our patients who consistently visit our chiropractic center report feeling increased energy and experiencing a more positive outlook than before their chiropractic session.
