Why Liringis?

Why should I choose Liringis Chiropractic?

Our Winston-Salem Chiropractic office and Greensboro Chiropractic office gives you two convenient locations to choose from.

Dr. Liringis and his chiropractic staff at our Winston-Salem Chiropractic office and Greensboro Chiropractic office consider it their duty to stay informed of the most advanced, effective and safe methods of chiropractic care and deliver the highest quality of treatment methods available to their patients. After an initial examination is performed, Dr. Liringis will tell you if he can help you. If he cannot, he can use his 30 years of practicing in the Triad to refer you to someone who can.

Dr. Steve: At Liringis Chiropractic our primary goal is to improve and maintain patient well-being.  We offer a positive approach to health in which we assist our patients to achieve optimal function and well being.  We treat the cause of your pain not the symptoms. Unlike many chiropractic firms, our focus is on providing hands-on, effective treatment of injured patients in order to return them to a productive life as quickly as possible, while controlling costs.

Categorically, we are not part of the lengthy and expensive cycle in which medical appointments lead to a series of tests, which lead to more appointments, which lead to physical therapy sessions, which lead to prescriptions, which lead to…well you know the story.

Our Winston-Salem Chiropractic office and Greensboro Chiropractic office practices are 100% owned by Dr. Steve Liringis, not a large group of investors.  This means that if money is a problem – you will not be turned away.  We realize that millions of Americans no longer have health insurance, and those who do have been subject to reduced benefits.  Lack of money should not stop you from being treated by the Triad’s premier chiropractor.

Our patients tell us they feel like family and feel right at home.  We have been told we have a staff with heart, chiropractors who care, and the personal touch our clients have been looking for.

We are highly skilled at what we do.

We offer same-day appointments at both of our locations, because we care about making you feel better now, without drugs or surgery.

In both Our Winston-Salem Chiropractic office and Greensboro Chiropractic offices, we have full time Spanish speaking staff members to assist our Hispanic patients.

Also at Liringis Chiropractic we realize your time is as valuable as ours; therefore, we schedule our patients so there is minimal waiting time to be seen.

Plus there is never a charge for a consultation. Simply put, Liringis Chiropractic should be your first choice for first-rate treatment of musculo-skeletal injuries of the neck and back.

Why should I be examined by a chiropractor after an auto accident?

Don’t assume your symptoms will just go away.  You may suffer for years if you do not receive proper care.

You may not be aware of the hidden “soft tissue” injuries that can result from even a minor auto accident.  Symptoms may take a day, a week, or even a month to appear.

After an auto accident you take your damaged car to be looked at by either a mechanic or a body repair shop – you should do the same thing for your body.  The human body was not designed to withstand the 'G' forces of an auto accident.

An auto accident can cause vertebrae to be knocked out of place (alignment) causing premature disc degeneration – causing increased wear and tear, like misaligning the front end of your car after hitting a pot hole - which causes the premature wearing out of your tires over time.

What does a Chiropractor do?

A doctor of chiropractic examines the spine for abnormalities.  Abnormalities in the spinal column causes irritability within the nervous system.  In correcting spinal alignment by performing an “adjustment,” interferences are removed and your spinal joints, muscles or nerves will go back to their normal position and function - insuring a healthy nervous system. The pain is gone without surgery, shots or drugs.

The adjustment is usually given by hand.  It consists of placing the patient on a custom designed table or chair and then applying pressure, using specialized chiropractic techniques to the areas of the spine or extremities that are out of proper alignment.

Considerable skill and dexterity are required to become proficient in the art of chiropractic adjusting.

Dr. Steve: One of chiropractic's consistently-acknowledged positive aspects is a patient-centered approach to health care.  At Liringis Chiropractic the purpose of care is to restore and maintain the health of the whole person and not treat isolated symptoms or disease.

Chiropractic helps create the potential for well-being and to improve the patient's quality of life. When one or more vertebra go out of their normal position, they interfere with the nerves they were meant to protect; this interference can cause pressure or irritation on the spinal cord and/or the nerve roots as they pass out of the spinal column: causing lowered resistance to disease, malfunction of organs and an overall weakening of the human body.

By adjusting the vertebrae the body functions better; therefore improving the quality of life. Nothing works properly if it is not structurally correct.  The human body is no different.

“Chiropractic” is defined as the science of adjusting the cause of disease by realigning the spine, releasing pressure on nerves radiating from the spine to all parts of the body, and allowing the nerves to carry their full quota of health current (nerve energy) from the brain to all parts of the body.

Does chiropractic therapy hurt?

Our patients at Liringis Chiropractic tell us they look forward to their treatment and that it is a pleasant experience!!!!  There are many types of therapies we can use – if a patient does not like one – we can use another they do like!!!!

Dr. Steve: With any type of health care system there is a possibility of discomfort. For the most part chiropractic is a pleasant experience.  Most people look forward to their treatments.

What kind of problems to chiropractors treat?

Dr Steve: Chiropractic treats a wide variety of musculo-skeletal conditions, including auto accidents, on the job injuries, and sports injuries. A nerve that is pinched can cause various symptoms depending on how badly it's affected and what part of the body the nerve controls.

Generally speaking, a pinched nerve in the upper area of the spine will affect the upper body parts.  A pinched nerve in the lower spine will affect the lower body parts and legs.

A few of the conditions we treat include:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Shooting pain/sciatica
  • Numbness & tingling
  • Muscle spasms
  • Arm, leg and joint pain
  • Dizziness
  • Facial pain
  • Ringing in ears
  • Blurry or painful vision

Do I only need to see a chiropractor after an injury, or should this be part of my wellness routine?

Dr. Steve: Chiropractic adjustments to the spine have helped thousands of patients, men, women, and children alike by correcting a serious, life damaging spinal distortion by what chiropractors call the ‘vertebral subluxation.” This subluxation has damaging affects to your central nervous system, discs, ligaments, tendons, and spinal joints. Sublaxations can lower tissue and organ resistance to disease; therefore, preventing you from having optimum health.

Chiropractic is a safe, drug-free method of correcting this major cause of body disease.

Chiropractic should be an intrinsic part of your wellness routine.  I recommend visiting a chiropractor monthly. You can not reach optimal health without chiropractic care helping to restore normal nerve flow throughout the body.

Will I be prescribed drugs?  Why not?

Dr. Steve: There are no syringes at Liringis!!!
We've provided an alternative to prescription drugs that mask the condition and only treat the symptoms.

As a drugless profession we do not have to deal with the devastating side effects of prescription drugs that we are all warned about. For example, Acetaminophen (Tylenol) has been found to be the leading cause of liver disease in America and 25% of Americans on kidney dialysis can attribute their condition to the effects of Ibuprofen.

We as chiropractors treat the cause of your pain.

Chiropractic has been proven to be a safe, effective and cost-saving profession.

What’s the difference between a “medical doctor” and a chiropractor?

Total chiropractic education consists of 6 to 8 years.  Two years pre-med and 4+ years of chiropractic college.  Chiropractic college consists of numerous hours of anatomy, neurology, pathology, and physiology courses as well as the same curricula required by the medical professions.

Chiropractors look for problem areas in your musculoskeletal system which may be contributing to your pain.  The chiropractic evaluation is unique to chiropractic and is not taught in medical schools. Chiropractors focus on joints, soft tissues, nerves, muscles and ligaments.

Will I have to keep going to the chiropractor forever?

This depends on the injury or condition you present us with.  The more complicated the case or severe the injury, the longer care will take.  It can also depend on your age.  Normally, older patients have less elasticity in their muscles and more arthritic changes.  Older patients do respond favorably to chiropractic care – but normally they respond more slowly than a younger patient.

Research and clinical data have indicated three phases of healing and their time frames:

  1. The acute phase lasts a minimum of 48 hours and maximum of 72 hours
  2. The repair-regeneration phase lasts a minimum of 48 hours and maximum of 6 week
  3. The remodeling-rehab phase lasts a minimum of 3 weeks and maximum of 12 or more months

An average treatment and recovery time in our office with conditions that do not have complications may be 3 to 6 weeks.  When complications arise treatment time may be extended 2 to 4 months.

Total number of visits will depend on how you respond to treatments, and your initial condition.

Dr. Steve: A well informed patient will want to come in for periodic chiropractic checkups.  These visits can detect and help correct new spinal problems before they become serious. Health-conscious patients choose this for their children also.  These occasional checkups help assure good health; diet, lifestyle, and exercise evaluation are all included in chiropractic care.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This type of care can save time and money by keeping you healthy.

Thomas Edison was describing the doctor of chiropractic when he stated:
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, in the cause of prevention of disease.

Why should someone who isn’t injured need a chiropractic adjustment?

I believe the general statute of North Carolina defining chiropractic will answer this question:

“Chiropractic” is herein defined to be the science of adjusting the cause of disease by realigning the spine, releasing pressure on nerves radiating from the spine to all parts of the body, and allowing the nerves to carry their full quota of health current (nerve energy) from the brain to all parts of the body.
